This 268 sqft mosaic for Legal Sea Foods’ flagship restaurant is a reinterpretation of an oil painting by the same name. The hectic abstract scene aptly named “Fish in Turmoil” is constructed with swirls of 205,000 metallic and solid 3/8″ vitreous glass tile.
Artaic Creative Director, Paul Reiss manipulated an image of the original painting that hangs proudly in Legal Seafoods CEO, Roger Berkowitz’s office to create an original design. The new design was run through Artaic’s software to turn the design into a one-of-a-kind mosaic. Once the design was done, production of all 268 square feet took just four days to produce – ready just in time for the grand opening of the restaurant.
Looks great–I will look for it when I go over there next–who was the architect on the project?
Hi Andy – Thanks for your kind words.
The architects for the building are Elkus Manfredi
The interior design company for the restaurant is The Johnson Studio
This ‘wall’ changes an ordinary, pleasant eating experience into an extraordinary gastromic experience.
Obviously, the Legal Seafoods leadership team is bold enough and has enough vision to appreciate the atmosphere and general ambience that will set one restaurant apart. Artaic will grow with the understanding and trust from clients like this.
I have not been to the site yet but plan to do so – just to let it all sink in!
Great work, unique vision, brings the experience to life.
Looks awesome!! Can’t wait to see it in person, I’ve been meaning to check out the new building for a while now! Nice work Artaic Team.
