Incorporating more than 350,00 individual tiles, this 460 square foot project is a reproduction of an original 1968 watercolor painting of a Seafarer sailing yacht under full sail. The layout of the image incorporates the mosaic into the physical features of the atrium. The positioning gives the impression that a “wind” accelerates the yacht across the atrium wall as it appears to gust from the corridors on the right.
This is absolutely stunning! Is that a door at the bottom?
Good eyes Sarah. It’s a fire door that could not be removed, so we used an epoxy adhesive to adhere the tiles to the metal surface of the door, hiding the door within the tile water.
